Home Education Gardening and Horticulture Taster Day

The Home Education Gardening and Horticulture Taster Day will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Westlakes Science Park in Moor Row.

What to Expect

• Gain hands-on experience in ground preparation, planting, and harvesting.
• Learn to nurture seedlings.
• Support site maintenance activities such as grass cutting, weeding, fence work, and litter picking.
• Participate in a 2-hour in-person practical session.

Who Should Attend

This session is aimed at young people in Year 10, or aged 14-15, who live or have connections to the Copeland area. Young people must be accompanied by a trusted adult.

Practical Information

Attendees should wear wellies and bring waterproofs or weather-appropriate clothing. Drinks and snacks are welcome, with a fridge on site and water available to refill bottles. Toilets and places to sit undercover are also available on site.
