About This Event

Salad Bar Garden 101 — Hands-On Container Gardening Workshop will take place on September 12, 2026, at a Garden in Mount Vernon, NY.

What to Expect

  • Build your very own portable “salad bar garden” in a grow bag.
  • Leave with a 5-gallon grow bag, fully planted and ready to grow.
  • Receive premium soil, a heat-tolerant lettuce transplant, cold-hardy lettuce and radish seeds, and edible pansies.
  • Discover the “never buy scallions again” trick to regrow them from kitchen scraps.
  • Get straw mulch, a trowel, and gloves—everything you need.
  • Access a care guide with a built-in succession-planting plan and a private Grow-Along group.

Who Should Attend

This beginner-friendly workshop welcomes complete beginners with no prior experience needed. All ages are welcome.

Practical Information

The workshop duration is 2 hours (10 AM - 12 PM). Free parking is available. An optional self-watering reservoir insert is available as an add-on for an additional $25-30.
