Who Should Attend
This event is recommended for participants 16 years of age or older, with individuals welcome to register. All skill levels are welcome, and no prior gardening knowledge is required as training will be provided.
Practical Information
Participation is FREE, but registration is required. Volunteer days take place on various Thursdays from April through November, typically from 8:45 AM to 2 PM. This is an outdoor event, so participants should dress for the weather, wear sunscreen, and bring water or snacks. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are a must, and QBG staff will provide gardening gloves. Physical work, including bending, lifting 10+ pounds, and standing/walking for long periods, is expected. Volunteers are encouraged to stay for the entire duration of the session. Parking is available free of charge at the Parking Garden, located at 42-80 Crommelin Street, Flushing, NY 11355. QBG Horticulture volunteers should meet at the Visitor & Administration Building terrace at the scheduled start time for check-in.
