Middlebrook Farm presents its 2026 Gardening Educational Series, spanning multiple dates from July 25, 2026, to September 19, 2026, at Middlebrook Farm in Cumming, IA.

What to Expect

  • Gain lots of knowledge and expert advice from Farm Manager, Mosa Shayan.
  • Learn about different types of perennials, choosing the right ones, and utilizing native perennials for sustainable blooms.
  • Receive a “designer’s trick” for mixing native perennials with ornamentals from guest speaker, Lynn Kuhn, a Landscape Architect.
  • Learn how to harvest, prepare, and save seeds for a thriving and sustainable garden.
  • Have the opportunity to collect seeds from Middlebrook’s town garden to take home.

Who Should Attend

This information series is perfect for backyard gardeners of all skill levels looking to expand their knowledge and practical skills.

Practical Information

Each class is $15, and each participant will need their own ticket. Each class is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Refunds are available up to 5 days before the event.

Programme

  1. Saturday, July 25: Perennial Plants
    • Mosa Shayan will guide participants through different types of perennials, selection for specific spaces, and utilizing native perennials for sustainability.
    • Guest speaker, Lynn Kuhn (Landscape Architect), will share a “designer’s trick” for mixing native perennials with ornamentals, using Echinacea (Coneflower) and Liatris (Gayfeather) as examples.
  2. Saturday, September 19: Seed Saving
    • This class will cover harvesting, preparing, and saving seeds to ensure a thriving and sustainable garden.
    • Gardeners will have the opportunity to collect seeds from Middlebrook’s town garden to take home.
