Open Gardening Day

Open Gardening Day is an ongoing event occurring on Wednesdays and Sundays at ITAL COMMUNITY GARDEN- The Black Gate next to in London.

What to Expect

• Participate in digging, planting, and sharing gardening skills
• Learn new skills and meet new people in an intergenerational community garden
• Grow culturally diverse foods, from scotch bonnets to squashes, utilizing a polytunnel and greenhouse
• Discover wildlife with a pond and wildflower bank
• Engage in discussion circles, edutainment activities, food growing workshops for children, and mental wellbeing sessions
• Contribute ideas for incorporating climate-friendly renewable energy into the green space

Who Should Attend

This event is for anyone interested in hands-on gardening, community engagement, learning about food sovereignty, and enjoying a peaceful green space. All skill levels are welcome.

Practical Information

Attendees can drop in anytime between 11am-3pm on Wednesdays and Sundays. Light refreshments are always available. The venue includes a compost toilet, summerhouse shelter, and is wheelchair & raised beds accessible. Visitors are encouraged to bring gardening gloves and a reusable water bottle.
