About This Event
Community gardening sessions! are ongoing events taking place every Saturday at Barking Food Forest site in Barking, England.
What to Expect
- Learn how to plant, cultivate, and harvest your own food.
- Participate in activities and workshops covering all aspects of growing your own food, from seed-sowing to harvesting.
- Contribute to preparing the site for the cold season, including levelling ground in the polytunnel greenhouse and constructing nursery beds.
- Engage in collecting and storing seeds, discussing future planting plans, and designing the kitchen garden.
- Join in general weeding and cleaning activities to maintain the garden.
Who Should Attend
Anyone interested in food growing in Barking & Dagenham is welcome to join the team at Barking Food Forest. No prior experience is required.
Practical Information
These events are free to attend. All sessions run every Saturday from 11am to 2pm.
Programme
Over the next few Saturdays, we will be quite busy setting things in place ahead of the cold season. We will be working on:
- Levelling the ground in the Polytunnel greenhouse
- Constructing nursery beds for the Greenhouse
- Collecting and storing seeds for next season
- Meeting to discuss the plants intended for the next season
- Design the kitchen garden and nursery for next season
- Clean the kitchen garden
- General weeding and cleaning
