About This Event

Parent & Toddler Garden Group 2026 is a monthly themed gardening club designed for parents and toddlers, running throughout 2026 at Festina Lente, Victorian Walled Gardens, Old Connaught Avenue, A98 F702 Bray.

What to Expect

  • Fun, creative, and nature-connected activities with Irish plants, animals, and teddy bears.
  • Designed for parents and toddlers aged 1–4.
  • Opportunity for parents to relax and socialise with others over a tea or coffee.
  • Each session includes a gentle nature warm-up, active outdoor play, creative plant-based crafts, hands-on gardening projects, and a mindful “plant yoga” wind-down.
  • The Victorian Walled Gardens offer a safe, welcoming space for toddlers to explore at their own pace.
  • Toddlers are invited to bring their favourite Teddy Bear to join the gardening fun.

Who Should Attend

Parents and toddlers (ages 1-4) looking for fun, practical, and nature-connected gardening activities in a safe outdoor environment, and an opportunity for social interaction.

Practical Information

  • Cost: Parents and toddler ticket: €15. An annual ticket is €150 and grants access to all 12 seasonal sessions.
  • Duration: Each session is 1 hour.
  • Refund Policy: Refunds available up to 7 days before the event.

  1. January – Hedgehog & Nettles
    • Leaf pile play & “snuffle like a hedgehog” game
    • Craft: pinecone hedgehogs
    • Gardening: sow baby salad leaves, nettle tea for parents
    • Yoga: Hedgehog curl pose
  2. February – Fox & Snowdrop
    • Fox tiptoe & pouncing games
    • Craft: snowdrop paper flowers
    • Gardening: plant snowdrop bulbs or winter greens
    • Yoga: Fox stretch
  3. March – Frog & Wild Garlic
    • Frog races with Teddy Bears
    • Craft: dandelion crowns
    • Gardening: sow tulips & early herbs
    • Yoga: Frog pose & dandelion blowing breaths
  4. April – Rabbit & Primrose
    • Bunny bounce play & garden hide-and-seek
    • Craft: primrose flower baskets
    • Gardening: sow edible seeds for Easter
    • Yoga: Bunny ears listening game
  5. May – Caterpillar & Clover
    • Caterpillar crawl & wiggle trail
    • Craft: potato print caterpillars
    • Gardening: plant clover patches for pollinators
    • Yoga: Caterpillar curl, butterfly stretch
  6. June – Honeybee & Elderflower
    • Bee waggle dance games
    • Craft: daisy chain necklaces
    • Gardening: make elderflower cordial (demo for parents)
    • Yoga: Buzzing bee
  7. July – Butterfly & Meadowsweet
    • Butterfly wing dress-up & parade
    • Craft: flower petal suncatchers
    • Gardening: plant herbs in butterfly pots
    • Yoga: Butterfly pose
    • Note for July & August: Due to popular demand, sunshine-filled pop-up Sunday gatherings with nature surprise themes (speedy squirrels, serene swans, stellar starfish) are offered. Check dates via the ticket booking system.
  8. August – Ladybird & Wild Mint
    • Ladybird treasure hunt
    • Craft: painted pebble ladybirds
    • Gardening: sow mint cuttings in little pots
    • Yoga: Crawl & fly like ladybirds
  9. September – Owl & Yarrow
    • Owl hooting circle
    • Craft: feather & leaf owl masks
    • Gardening: sow wildflower seed bombs with yarrow
    • Yoga: Wide-wing owl stretch
  10. October – Bat & Hawthorn
    • Bat scavenger hunt with Teddy Bears
    • Craft: leaf skeleton bat wings
    • Gardening: harvest hawthorn berries (demo for parents)
    • Yoga: Bat hang pose
  11. November – Red Squirrel & Rosehip
    • Squirrel nut-gathering game
    • Craft: autumn leaf collages
    • Gardening: make rosehip feeders for birds
    • Yoga: Squirrel balance pose
  12. December – Robin & Holly
    • Robin song & call-and-response games
    • Craft: holly & robin decorations
    • Gardening: make seed balls for winter birds
    • Yoga: Robin stretch & star wishes
